What inspired you to kickstart your fitness journey? After having my kids I was ready to jump back into my fitness journey and get some time for myself. I also was looking for something close to home so I could get a quick and effective workout.
What’s been the biggest hurdle you’ve faced along the way? I go to early morning classes during the week because that is the only time I can consistently fit it in. Getting up that early in the morning was a huge struggle at first. Once I got into it I realized how much better I felt on the days I went to (MDR) which has made getting up easier. Having a routine has also allowed me to be consistent with attending class.
Any pearls of wisdom for those just starting out? Take the modifications! I learned early on that it when I took the modifications and focused on good form and tempo I was seeing better results then when I was trying to force myself to do the full move bc I was taking too many breaks or having really poor form. Even after so many years and so many classes I still take modifications some days depending on how my body is feeling.
How has your fitness journey spilled over into other aspects of your life? I think (MDR) has taught me many things about dedication, routines and consistency. When I do those three things my body feels better, I am happier and I can easily keep up with my three active kids on the soccer field and playground.
Any unexpected perks or benefits from your journey? One unexpected perk was finding a community and the connections with the instructors. I wasn’t expecting the instructors to be so invested in my journey or getting to know me as a person. I love those relationships and their ability to hold me accountable.
What major fitness milestones are you aiming to conquer next? I am turning 40 in a few months and I am really looking to continue to grow my strength and fitness throughout this next decade.
